Protesters Swarm Grand Central Terminal, Call on Puerto Rico Governor to Step Down

People calling for the resignation of Puerto Rico’s governor, Ricardo Rossello, swarmed New York’s Grand Central Terminal in protest on Monday, July 22, following a week of protests in Puerto Rico on the same issue.

The protests followed the release of hundreds of private Telegram exchanges between Rossello and 11 top aides and cabinet members that contained homophobic and misogynistic messages. Puerto Rico’s Center for Investigative Journalism also alleged that a “multi-million-dollar corruption network” flourished with Rossello’s knowledge and involved some of his closest aides.
