Protesters Run for Cover as Hong Kong Police Launch Tear Gas Canisters
Pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong’s Tai Po district retreated as Hong Kong police fired a hail of tear gas canisters at them on November 13.
The South China Morning Post reported a heavy police presence in Tai Po on Wednesday night, saying riot police had raised a tear gas warning banner.
On Tuesday, police and protesters clashed across Hong Kong, including at the Chinese University, where riot police fired tear gas and projectiles as protesters set up road blocks and threw petrol bombs.
It followed violence on Monday that saw a man set on fire and a protester shot at point-blank range.
Anti-government demonstrations in Hong Kong started in April, prompted by a proposed extradition bill that would have allowed criminal suspects to be transferred to mainland China. The bill was shelved in October. Credit: SocRec via Storyful
