Police Use Water Cannon on Protesters Defying Government Order in Bangkok

Police used water cannons against protesters at the Pathumwan intersection in central Bangkok, Thailand, on October 16, the third day of anti-government demonstrations.

The Bangkok Post said police had ordered the crowd to disperse, and then used water in an attempt to end the demonstration.

Many protesters held umbrellas in front of them and others threw water bottles at the officers, the Post said.

The Post said around 2,000 people gathered at Pathumwan because the location for a rally the previous night that drew thousands was sealed off. Earlier in the week, the government banned demonstrations. Credit: @NAT_SNAP via Storyful
