Police Respond to Fatal Shooting at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard

A US sailor shot and killed two Department of Defense civilian workers and injured another before killing himself at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, in Honolulu, on December 4, authorities said in a press conference.

The two deceased were originally transported to hospital in a critical condition and later died. A third victim was in a “stable condition”, Rear Admiral Robert Chadwick, commander of Navy Region Hawaii, told media.

The shooter was “tentatively identified as an active duty sailor assigned to the USS Columbia” and was confirmed “deceased by a self-inflicted gunshot wound”.

The base was put into lockdown after the shooting, at around 2.30 pm local time.
