Plumes of Smoke Rise From Popocatepetl Volcano in Mexico

The Popocatepetl volcano in Mexico sent a plume of smoke and ash into the air on the morning of November 11, prompting officials to issue a yellow warning for the area.

Footage shot from the nearby town of San Nicolás de los Ranchos shows a column of smoke and ash shoot into the sky from the volcano.

Mexico’s National Center for Prevention of Disasters reported activity over the last 24 hours, including 344 exhalations from the volcano and 10 minutes of tremor. The federal agency urged people not to approach the volcano, especially near the crater, “due to the danger posed by falling ballistic fragments.” Credit: Webcams de México via Storyful
