Plane Disappears Into Orange Haze After Taking Off From Sydney Airport

Devastating bushfires continued to burn across New South Wales on December 5, bringing hazardous smoke closer to Sydney.

Six emergency warnings were issued for fires in the state on Thursday, including the 230,000-hectare Gospers Mountain blaze to the west of Sydney. The New South Wales Rural Fire Service said that more than 2,000 firefighters would remain in the field overnight.
