Parched Koala Grabs for Water Bottle at Northern New South Wales Fire Ground

A New South Wales Parks and Wildlife officer provided a thirsty koala with much-needed refreshment on November 20.

The parched “little mate” was found on the Bills Crossing fire ground, according to a Facebook post from the NSW Rural Fire Service’s local district.

The fire, north of Taree on the state’s coast, has burned through nearly 13,000 hectares of bushland.

As of 9 am on Friday, there were 55 fires burning across New South Wales, with 26 not yet contained, the Rural Fire Service reported. Credit: New South Wales Rural Fire Service – Mid Coast District via Storyful
