Ohio Police Officer Rescues Eight-Year-Old Girl Trapped After Flash Flooding

Police in Walton Hills, Ohio, have released body camera footage showing an officer rescuing an eight-year-old girl who was separated from her family and trapped by a sudden surge of water at Bridal Veil Falls near Bedford on July 7.

According to Fox 8, the incident occurred when a flash flood hit as the girl was swimming with her family, causing her to be stranded on the other side of an embankment.

In this footage, Officer Tom Cercek throws a rope to the girl and instructs her to tie it around herself before pulling her up to safety from a ledge.

“Oh my God, thank you, thank you, thank you so much,” she says to the officer when she reaches firm ground. Credit: Walton Hills Police Department via Storyful
