Morning Sun Reveals Smoky Haze Over Sydney

A smoky haze blanketed Sydney, Australia, and its suburbs on November 19, as 23 uncontained bushfires raged across New South Wales, according to the NSW Rural Fire Service.

The fire service said 48 fires total were burning in the state and warned that “hot and windy conditions” may cause the active fires to spread.

News reports said authorities issued an air-quality advisory for the Sydney area as smoke from the Gospers Mountain fire was blown down onto the city. “Smoke currently blankets much of the #NSW east coast. This is likely to begin clearing once the day warms up and winds increase. However the smoke is not expected to completely clear and is likely to settle across the area once again this afternoon,” the NSW RFS said in a tweet on Tuesday morning.
