Military Aircraft Helps Control Raging Wildfire in Colombia's Andes Mountains

The Colombian Military’s Air Division helped tackle a wildfire in the northern municipality of Barrancabermeja, in Santander, Colombia, on Monday, March 4.

Footage posted by the Military’s Air Division shows an MI-17 aircraft flying over the wildfire and working on extinguishing it.

“So far, more than 30 discharges have been carried out on the fire that affects the town of El Llano, in Barrancabermeja, Santander,” the military said.

In a later update, Dr Jonathan Vasquez, from the District Mayor’s Office of Barrancabermeja, said the fire had been controlled.
