Man Filmed Setting Fire to Police Car in South Carolina

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is seeking help in identifying a male suspect who was filmed pouring gasoline on a police vehicle outside a police station in Pine Ridge, southwest of Columbia, on the evening of July 31.

Security footage captured the man approaching the parked vehicle, emptying a container of gasoline onto it, and setting it alight before fleeing the scene. He was described as a white male between 20 and 35 years of age, and around six feet tall.

“By deliberately choosing to destroy the vehicle and commit this criminal act, this individual purposefully put members of the Pine Ridge community in additional danger by significantly reducing law enforcement’s ability to respond to an emergency,” said Lt Brad Keller of SLED’s Arson Unit in a statement. "Our citizens deserve better and this criminal should be held responsible for his
actions,” he added. Credit: SC Law Enforcement Division via Storyful
