Last Town Held By Islamic State Captured by Kurdish Forces

Kurdish forces (YPG) in Syria released footage on December 15 described as showing scenes from inside the city of Hajin, the last large town to be held by the Islamic State, said to have been captured by US-backed forces the day before.

Remaining pockets of resistances in the city were expected to be wiped out in the few days following the capture of Hajin, a YPG source cited by Reuters said. About 5,000 fighters from the Islamic State were still holding out in the surrounding area, near Euphrates River in eastern Syria, according to the same source. Credit: YPG Press Office via Storyful
