Labour Party Leader Keir Starmer was thrown out of a pub in Bath, England, on April 19 after an angry landlord confronted him over COVID-19 regulations.
Reporter Stephen Sumner filmed this footage of the landlord, named as Rod Humphris, confronting Starmer on Queen Street outside of The Raven. Humphris presses Starmer about the regulations, saying “we have f****d our economy because old people are dying.”
Humphris goes on to say Starmer has “failed this country” by not questioning certain COVID-19 safety rules, including lockdowns and masks for children. Another clip shows security restraining Humphris as he repeatedly yells at Starmer to “get out” of the pub.
After the incident, Starmer said he thinks the “vast majority” of people in the area “recognize that the lockdown was necessary, the restrictions are necessary.” Starmer said he “profoundly” disagrees with Humphris.
The video also shows Tim Perry, who co-manages The Raven with Humphris, saying Humphris’s views do not reflect the opinions of the pub. Credit: Stephen Sumner via Storyful
