'We Just Passed the 6-Foot Mark for This Storm': Snow Buries California Mountains

Snow buried the Sierra Nevada mountains of Northern California on Sunday, March 3, as a winter storm slammed the region.

Video captured by the UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab at the lab’s base shows snow piling up in the Soda Springs area on Sunday. In the video, the lab said that snow levels surpassed 6 feet.

The storm prompted the closure of several main roads leading to the Lake Tahoe and Mammoth Mountain areas over the weekend, according to local reports. Credit: UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab via Storyful
