Istanbul Mayor Links Deadly Floods to Climate Change

The deadly floods which hit Istanbul and other parts of Turkey on Tuesday, September 5, have been linked to climate change by Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu.

At least two people died in Istanbul, officials said. A further two people were killed in Kırklareli province.

Imamoglu blamed climate change for the heavy rain, saying: “In a situation where climate change has turned into precipitation in this way, it has shown that we need to make our calculations accordingly in Istanbul, throughout Turkey, and even in the world."
