Interstate 75 Partially Closed in Northern Florida After Deadly Crash

One person was confirmed dead after a fiery crash involving at least four vehicles on Interstate 75 near Lake City, in northern Florida, on Tuesday, September 17.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash involved two semi-trucks, one box truck, and one passenger car in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 at mile marker 414 in Columbia County.

At the time of writing, the southbound lanes remained closed and drivers were being detoured. Two northbound lanes remained open.

Police told WCTV there was a lot of debris and fire damage to the road and the Department of Transportation was assessing whether the southbound lanes could be opened to traffic.
