'Instructional Video' Recommends Pastry Bribery to Get Teenagers Out of Bed During Lockdown

Parenting during a pandemic has proved a trial for many. For any mothers and fathers struggling to get their teenagers to rise from their slumber, though, one UK dad has created an “instructional video”.

Southampton man Will Reid posted this footage to YouTube on May 22, showing his attempt to get his teenage daughter Beth out of bed at close to midday.

His tactics are simple: provide a pastry and hope for the best. In the footage, he can be seen putting a pastry on Beth’s bed, while she is still tucked under the covers. The offering does elicit signs of life, as a hand slowly emerges from beneath the duvet to claim it.

Reid previously went viral in 2014, with another instructional video for his children, which focused on how to replace an empty toilet paper roll with a fresh one. That essential video guide garnered over 4.5 million views. Credit: Will Reid via Storyful
