Helicopters Used to Fight Elephant Butte Fire in Evergreen, Colorado

The Elephant Butte Fire in Evergreen, Colorado, reached 25 percent containment as multiple agencies worked together to battle the blaze on Tuesday, July 14, officials said.

The 50-acre fire in Jefferson County forced the evacuation of more than 1,000 nearby houses, local media reported. Evergreen Fire Rescue said no structures had been damaged as of Tuesday morning.

“We will be evaluating lifting any evacuation orders as the afternoon goes on depending on how containment goes,” the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.
