Helicopters Evaluate Damage After Tornado Hits Northern Louisiana

A tornado tore through Ruston, Louisiana, on April 25, leaving a swath of destruction and two dead, Governor John Bel Edwards said. The National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning overnight.

This footage, captured from police helicopters as they surveyed the town, shows extensive damage to structures. Homes can be seen with their roofs partially destroyed. Fallen trees and debris can be seen strewn about the area.

Louisiana Tech University, a college in Ruston, was closed on Thursday after the tornado swept through the campus, the school said.
