'It's Going Down': Black Lives Matter Mural Painted on Fifth Avenue in New York City

Workers with the New York Department of Transportation stenciled letters and began painting a Black Lives Matter mural on Fifth Avenue near New York’s Trump Tower in Manhattan on July 9.

Reports said several other Black Lives Matter murals have been painted in New York City, including in Brooklyn and Staten Island, following anti-racism protests across the country.

President Donald Trump said the mural would be “denigrating” to Fifth Avenue, describing it as a “symbol of hate.”

Instagram user @m.aristyfarer shot video of the mural being painted. In the footage, a voice comments, “It’s going down. Black lives matter. This is New York’s answer. It’s right in front of Trump’s home.” Credit: @m.aristyfarer via Storyful
