Forest Glows Orange at Night as Firefighters Battle Gospers Mountain Blaze

Fire crews worked through the night on Saturday, December 14, to build containment lines around the giant Gospers Mountain blaze, which had been burning in the Hawkesbury region north-west of Sydney for more than a month.

The New South Wales Rural Fire Service issued the latest in a series of emergency warnings for the fire on the Saturday afternoon. The bushfire had burned through more than 367,000 hectares as of Sunday morning.

In a Facebook post, Cherrybrook Rural Fire Brigade said its crew were sent to Mount Wilson to help battle the blaze.

“Crews work well into the night and early morning to strengthen containment lines around the Gospers Mountain fire, which at the time had been upgraded to an Emergency Warning,” the post said.
