Firefighters Face Rough Waters, 'Zero' Visibility During Queens Boat Rescue

New York City firefighters said they ventured into rough waters with “zero visibility” as they rescued two people in Queens during Tropical Storm Isaias on Tuesday, August 4.

The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) shared this footage of crewmembers in a boat that was being rocked by swells. The FDNY said they were rescuing two people from a “disabled boat.”

The fire department said it responded to numerous calls on Tuesday, including 17 fires, a partial building collapse, and “several” water rescues. The storm also downed trees and power lines across the city, local media reported. Credit: FDNY via Storyful
