An environmental activist with the group Extinction Rebellion climbed scaffolding around London’s parliament buildings on October 18.
Ben Atkinson, a 43-year-old tree surgeon and activist, ascended the Elizabeth Tower – known colloquially as Big Ben – on Friday afternoon.
According to The Guardian, he unfurled two Extinction Rebellion banners from the scaffolding on the clock tower at about 4 pm.
Atkinson appeared to be wearing a costume and wig mimicking Boris Johnson. The banners read “No pride on a dead planet” and “Citizens Assembly," reports said. Credit: Extinction Rebellion via Storyful
