Emergency Services Respond to Train Derailment North of Melbourne

Two people died after an interstate train carrying about 150 passengers derailed north of Melbourne on February 20.

The Herald Sun reported that the Sydney-Melbourne train derailed near Wallan, about 45 kilometres north of Melbourne, on Thursday night.

Emergency services confirmed that two people died at the scene.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said paramedics were assessing a number of people and that one person was airlifted to Melbourne. “A large number of people are being assessed but are not believed to be seriously injured,” she told Storyful.
