Double Rainbow Arcs Over Greenville, South Carolina

A beautiful double rainbow painted the sky above Greenville, South Carolina, on Thursday, April 11.

Footage recorded by Samantha Weiss shows the phenomenon, which Weiss said had been accompanied by lightning strikes.

Other social media users also posted about the sight, with one adding that they had never seen a double rainbow before.

According to the British Met Office website, double rainbows are formed when sunlight is reflected twice within a raindrop.

The phenomenon is “relatively common,” the service added, especially at times when the sun is low in the sky. Credit: Samantha Weiss via Storyful
