Diver Takes a Trip With Pilot Whales Above and Below the Surface

Rizkhan Mohamed of Shadow Palm Tours in the Maldives enjoyed this blissful underwater swim alongside a number of pilot whales in the waters off Maafushi.

Mohamed’s camera follows one whale in particular as it rises up to the surface before swooping back below the waves into the blue waters.

According to the American Cetacean Society, pilot whales are, like killer whales, members of the dolphin family, and second only to them in terms of size. As well as that, they display “intelligence equal to that of the bottlenose dolphin.” Credit: shadowpalmmaldives via Storyful
