'I Didn't Freak You Out, Did I?' Oklahoma Police Pull Drivers Over to Give Out Cinnamon Rolls

Police gave drivers a sweet surprise in Moore, Oklahoma, on October 21, pulling them over to hand out cinnamon rolls and warnings for minor traffic infractions instead of tickets.

Bodycam footage shows an officer pulling over a driver and asking for her license and insurance, before informing her she was driving 43 mph in a 40 mph zone. After taking her information and heading back to his vehicle, he returns with a paper bag.

“This is a warning for your speed,” he says, handing her a piece of paper. “And the real reason we’re pulling people over is because we’re handing out Cinnabons.”

“I didn’t freak you out, did I?” the officer asks. The driver responds, “Yes!”

After consoling the emotional driver, her tears turn to laughter and she accepts the paper bag.

Speaking to local news station KOCO 5, Sgt Jeremy Lewis shared the rationale behind the cinnamon roll pull-over stunt, which was to “try to enforce traffic laws but also not ruin people’s day.”

“We stopped people for minor traffic violations, issue a warning, and then give them a cinnamon roll,” Sgt Lewis said. “Try to brighten their day a little bit, and it seemed to really help. I didn’t see anyone pass up the cinnamon rolls.” Credit: Moore Police Department via Storyful
