'Devastating' Flooding Swamps Streets in Brazil's Belo Horizonte

Heavy rainfall continued to inundate parts of Brazil as the streets of Minas Gerais were swamped with rushing floodwater on Tuesday, January 28, a Brazilian weather outlet reported.

At least 53 people were killed in the state of Minas Gerais over the past week due to the flooding, reports citing officials said. The flooding has displaced more than 30,000 people, according to local media.

Reports said the “devastating” rain inundated buildings and caused the collapse of the ceiling of a shopping mall in Belo Horizonte in Minas Gerais on Tuesday.
