Demonstrators March in Brooklyn to Support NYPD

Pro-police demonstrators marched in Brooklyn, New York, on July 12 in support of the New York Police Department (NYPD), local media reported.

Marko Kepi posted footage on Instagram of people marching down 4th Avenue in Brooklyn’s Bay Ridge neighborhood. The video shows people carrying signs with slogans such as “We support NYPD” and flags associated with the ‘Thin Blue Line’ movement.

“Today thousands of peaceful American citizens of all cultural groups showed up to support the NYPD, the people who protect us, our cities, our states, and our great country,” Kepi wrote on Instagram.

The march began on Bay Ridge Parkway and Fourth Avenue at about 5.30 pm, the New York Post reported, with a counter-protest starting around the same time on 86th Street and Fourth Avenue (about a mile away). There were tense standoffs and clashes between the two groups, according to reports. Credit: Marko Kepi via Storyful
