Cyclone Idai Death Toll Rises in Mozambique

The death toll in Mozambique had risen to 417 by March 23, a government minister said, after Cyclone Idai devastated parts of southeast Africa.

Speaking at a press conference, Lands and Environment Minister Celso Correia said the total number of fatalities was expected to rise as search and rescue operations continued.

Neighboring countries Zimbabwe and Malawi were also affected by the cyclone, which hit on March 15 triggering extensive flooding.
