Crowds Return to Australian Rugby League Matches With Social Distancing Measures

Crowds returned to matches in Australia’s National Rugby League championship on July 2 for the first time since the season was temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fans watching the Melbourne Storm play against the Sydney Roosters at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium could be seen sitting in staggered positions in the stands in video posted to Instagram by Jai McAuley.

Under social-distancing guidelines, Suncorp Stadium could reportedly only have a maximum of 10,000 fans inside, with groups separated to protect against any potential spreading of the virus. Credit: Jai McAuley via Storyful
