Crowd Gathers in Minsk for 'People's Inauguration of Tsikhanouskaya' Demonstration

Thousands marched in Minsk, Belarus, on Sunday, September 27, for a demonstration dubbed the “people’s inauguration of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya,” reports said.

Demonstrations against President Alexander Lukashenko have erupted across Belarus since the president’s administration announced his victory, winning a sixth term, in country’s election on August 9.

The results were denounced by opposition politicians, including Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, who claimed the election was rigged, and the vote was criticized abroad.
