Controlled Silo Demolition in Rural Illinois Is Oddly Satisfying to Watch

This oddly satisfying controlled demolition of a silo in Geneseo, Illinois, was captured by an employee of Red Line Excavating recently. The video shows the silo collapsing from the bottom up, and moving along the ground as it does so.

Ross Dwyer, owner of Red Line Excavating, told Storyful the tower was a 70-foot grain silo. He said the January 24 demolition might have looked strange, but everything was fine and it did not take long to clean up.

“It wasn’t a big deal to clean up. It took 25 minutes,” he said. “An excavator was used to remove the rubble.” Credit: Red Line Excavating via Storyful
