Performers with the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society walked off stage waving red and white flags, a symbol of anti-government protest, to the applause of the crowd on September 26.
This was not the first time members of the society showed their support for protests against President Alexander Lukashenko. They performed on the steps of the concert hall in protest on August 14, less than a week after the president was returned to power in a landslide election victory denounced by opposition politicians.
