'Beaver Moon' Rises in California's Alpine County

November’s full moon, known as the Beaver Moon, could be seen rising above the mountains of Alpine County in California on November 27.

According to some the Old Farmer’s Almanac, the Beaver Moon is so named as it’s the time of year “when beavers begin to take shelter in their lodges after gathering up winter stores.”

Beavers do not, however, hibernate. Credit: ALERTWildfire via Storyful
