Baby Saved From Countertop Fall by Vigilant Pawn Shop Manager

Thanks to the actions of vigilant pawn shop manager Bill Reel, a baby was saved from falling off a countertop at the Family Pawn store in Hurricane, Utah, on December 7.

Reel told KUTV that two women were in the store with the baby, looking at guns. One of them, he said, put the baby on the counter, where it lost balance. Video recorded on the store’s CCTV, and provided by owner Chris Bloxham, shows Reel’s quick reflexes on seeing the baby tottering and falling headfirst toward the ground. Reel springs across the shop floor, to catch the baby just in time.

Sharing the video on his Facebook, Reel warned parents: “Please don’t set your infants on counters off the ground and take even one step away. This baby was inches away from hitting its head directly on the concrete likely initiating a serious head injury.” Credit: Chris Bloxham via Storyful
