Authorities Detonate WW2-Era Bomb Found on Belgian Beach

A World War II-era bomb found on a beach next to the Belgian town of Koksijde was detonated by the military’s bomb disposal unit on Wednesday morning, February 28, according to officials.

Local police said the aerial bomb weighed more than 100 kilograms (220 pounds). It was moved away from buildings before being safely detonated.

The beach lies about 12 miles from Dunkirk and local media says the discovery of WWII-era bombs is not uncommon in the area. Credit: Politie Westkust via Storyful
