Australian Rules Footballers Hold First Full-Contact Training Session Since Coronavirus-Forced Closure

Australian Rules Football players have held their first full-contact training session on May 26, the first time since the season was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Clubs were permitted to train from May 18 in non-contact sessions with a maximum of eight participants. These restrictions were eased on May 25 to include full teams and full contact. A once-in-a-decade storm hitting Perth prevented the West Coast Eagles from performing a full-contact training session the day they were permitted.

The competition is set to restart on June 11, after being suspended on March 22 having been played a few rounds without any fans in the stadium. Credit: West Coast Eagles via Storyful
