Air Force Dad Disguised as Pizza Deliveryman Surprises Sons After 509-Day Deployment

An Air Force dad surprised his sons recently when he showed up disguised as a pizza deliveryman at his home in Tampa, Florida, after a nearly 17-month deployment.

Zaida Ivelisse Franco, the wife of US Air Force Technical Sergeant Javier Franco Jr, recorded the sweet prank on June 27 and posted it to Facebook.

Zaida Franco told Storyful her husband was stationed on Terceira Island, Portugal, and was due home from his one-year tour on March 1.

“Due to the pandemic and travel restrictions, his return home date was pushed back several months,” she said.

After almost 17 months away from his kids, Sgt Franco went undercover to “deliver” pizza to his sons. Sgt Franco can be seen wearing a mask and a hat, hiding his face. He tells the boys they are short on money before revealing who he really is. The younger boy jumps in his father’s arms while the older boy, who appears shocked, runs away before his dad calls him back and they embrace.

“After a very hard year for the family, it was an amazing surprise. We could finally be together again,” Zaida Franco said. Credit: Zaida Ivelisse Franco via Storyful
