97-Year-Old Soccer Fan Gets Best Surprise Visit After Months of Self-Isolating

A senior soccer fan from High Wycombe, England, had a special visitor on August 4, following months of self-isolation during the coronavirus pandemic.

Footage shared by Wycombe Wanderers Football Club shows CFO Pete Couhig surprise 97-year-old Leslie Hopson, a lifelong supporter, by bringing the League 1 play-off winners’ trophy to his home.

According to a tweet by the club, Hopson hadn’t been able to get to Adams Park (the team’s home ground) to see the trophy as he’d been shielding at home due to the virus.

Wycombe Wanderers told Storyful that Hopson’s daughter reached out to them to see if they could do anything special for her father.

“Our CFO Pete Couhig responded by taking the trophy to their house and spending 30 minutes in their garden chatting about all things to do with High Wycombe and its proud club,” the club said. Credit: Wycombe Wanderers via Storyful
