Video Shows 22-Year-Old Woman with Learner's Permit Crashing into Restaurant During Test Drive
According to authorities, the driver said she made a right turn “and lost control before hitting the building"
What started as a test drive with a new driver turned into major damage to a restaurant in Indianapolis earlier this week when authorities say the motorist apparently "lost control" of the vehicle.
On Wednesday, July 10, at 12:03 p.m. local time, a 22-year-old woman who had a learner’s permit crashed into the El Paseo Catracho restaurant, causing “significant structural damage to the building,” the Indianapolis Fire Department said on social media.
The unidentified driver told firefighters that she was “test driving a dealership car with a licensed passenger accompanying her” and she then made a right turn “and lost control before hitting the building,” the Indianapolis Fire Department wrote in an additional post.

A team from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) was called to the scene to assess the structural integrity of the building and survey the damages, the IMPD said.
An entire wall of the restaurant and a window caved in as a result of the crash, according to local TV station WTHR.
Surveillance footage shows that the driver only missed colliding with a pedestrian in an electric wheelchair by mere seconds before running into the front of the restaurant.

Police said that there were no patrons inside at the time of the crash and neither the driver nor the passenger sustained any injuries.
No charges were filed against the driver, but the Indianapolis Police Department said the crash is currently under investigation.
