Vessels Honk as Traffic Resumes in Suez Canal

Boats sounded their sirens and people cheered as the stuck container ship blocking the Suez Canal in Egypt was freed and moving again on Monday, March 29.

The Suez Canal Authority announced on Monday that the container ship blocking the canal had been refloated. The ship became wedged across the crucial waterway on March 23, disrupting global shipping for several days.

The ship, the Ever Given, was bound for the port of Rotterdam, and was expected to arrive there on March 31, according to marine trackers.
