Self-proclaimed “very serious journalist” Amelia Dimoldenberg and Oscar nominee Andrew Garfield have had us giggling and kicking our feet since their first viral interview back in 2022. And after literal years of manifesting the Spiderman alum’s appearance on the social media star’s show Chicken Shop Date, their interview f-i-n-a-l-l-y dropped on October 18, 2024, in a true win for chronically online people (guilty!).

After the rumor mill began buzzing with suspicions that Amelia was dating musician Aich, the two devastated fans by uploading a “breakup” vid to TikTok. “I have something to tell you,” Amelia began, to which Aitch replied, “I have something to tell you.” After a nervewracking, yet still lighthearted, back and forth about who would spill their feelings first, the two then blurted out, “We should just be friends,” in sync.
The reasons, you ask? “I can’t sit back and watch you every other week go on a date with other rappers. And I know it’s not real but I just can’t do it,” Aich confessed. “I mean, I can’t stop doing that, I love to date. You’re going on tour as well,” Amelia retorted.

It was the video played (and replayed 👀) round the world! Amelia interviewed Andrew on the red carpet of the GQ Men of the Year Awards, and their chemistry was...truly off the charts. Let’s review the play-by-play, shall we?
The actor first came up to the dating show host and gushed about how great she was. Taken aback, Amelia asked Andrew whether he knew who she was. “Of course, I’ve seen your chicken shop dates!” he responded.
“I’ve been trying to get a date with you for a while,” the journalist confessed, to which the Oscar nominee laughed and said, “I have not gotten that.” He then playfully pointed out that she dates a lot of people and while he thinks that’s “wonderful,” he feels “like, less special, I guess.”
Enter: Amelia getting into full-on rizz mode and assuring Andrew that he is “the most special.” Returning the compliment, he noted, “You look very beautiful,” causing the ever-cool social media star to giggle, as one does when flirting it up with *the* Andrew Garfield.

Another day, another 🥵 interview! This time, the two crossed paths at the 2023 Golden Globes, and Amelia didn’t waste a single second giving the people what they wanted. “We must stop meeting like this,” she hilariously said, to which Andrew chimed, “I only ever wanna see you!”
After realizing how!!!!!! the sentence that just came out of his mouth was, he began stuttering and added, “That’s not the end of the sentence! I only ever wanna see you in these kinds of situations.”

When asked about “other situations,” the actor maintained that he was “not interested,” but the vibes he put out said anything but lololol. Eventually, the two discussed Amelia’s sign (Aquarius), which just so happens to be Andrew’s.
“If you have a sun sign that’s the same as the moon sign of someone else, it’s good,” the actor-slash-astrology king pointed out before saying that he was “scared of what it could turn into. And I’m not ready for that.”

The fact that these two didn’t immediately start dating post the Golden Globes is beyond us, but what we *do* know is that somewhere along the line, Andrew began seeing Dr. Kate Tomas...and she seemingly confirmed their split in October 2024.
The evidence, you ask? The “professional witch” took to the comments section of her Instagram post to update people on where she stood with the celeb in a since-deleted announcement.
When asked by a fan whether she was “still dating” Andrew, Dr. Tomas replied, “We broke up months ago but I’m sure he will be happy to know that he is loved 🥰❤️.” Then, in response to a separate person in the comments section who sarcastically questioned if she’d “ever stop talking about Andrew,” she said, “Sweetheart, the only people who ever talk about or center a man in my life, work, business, and social media are women like you.”

After literal years of manifesting a ~moment~ between these two, Amelia and Andrew finally sat down for a date—a Chicken Shop Date, obvi.
“We can own that it’s been vibey,” the actor admitted straight from the jump. “Yeah, it’s been vibey to the point where you’ve been avoiding me for two years because the vibes were too much for you to handle,” the journalist replied.

Obvi, the two played a game of “Snog, Marry, Avoid,” and Amelia gave Andrew the following options: Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and her. “I’d have to avoid you then,” the Spiderman alum teased. “I can’t do that to either of those guys! I can do that to you.” Amelia jokingly acted offended and asked whether he was kidding, to which he reassured, “Of course,” and emphasized, “This is called flirting, Amelia. This is called flirting.”

The duo then discussed their dating etiquette, and Amelia dished that she’s typically the person who asks someone else out on a date, even if she might get rejected. “I really appreciate that. I think that’s hot. I think that’s really hot,” Andrew replied.
The wildest part of the episode, however? When the actor asked the social media star if she thought they’d ever go on a date IRL outside of the chicken shop. Ahem: “Do you think this has fucked up the fact that we could’ve actually gone on a date at some point?”
“I actually believe maybe we could’ve,” Amelia confessed before adding, “I think that we—there’s something going on.” “Take out all the practicalities and the logic. I actually believe maybe we could’ve, without all of this,” he urged, pointing to the cameras around them.
Later, Andrew returned to the topic and revealed, “I think we’d have a really nice time without the camera.” Always unserious (relatable), Amelia retorted, “I think we should be friends. Did I just friend-zone this situation? Ah, I shouldn’t have done that.”
“Unless that’s what you want,” the actor responded. “No, I don’t know what I want,” she acknowledged. The two then agreed that the show date could be a “practice round” for the real deal. “I think we should do it again, actually, and better,” Andrew said of the maybe (?!?!!?) next date. “This should just be a rehearsal.”

After the celebs made us legit swoon during their Chicken Shop debut, Amelia had a candid convo with *checks notes* Sesame Street’s Elmo during their own convo on the show. “I met someone recently,” she told the muppet, who in return asked, “And what did you think of them?”
“Well, I really like them and I feel like it went well, but I feel like I was in my head again and maybe I sort of friend-zoned them before we could even begin,” she responded. “It was a great date though, we’ve got real chemistry...I don’t know, we’ll see how it goes.” *cue le dramatic music*

The internet personality stopped by the BuzzFeed studio for an iconic Puppy Interview in which she discussed her time with Andrew on Chicken Shop Date. “I think it was pretty, pretty good actually. I think it was pretty good…it was a very original date,” she confessed, adding, “I was going to say I’ve never felt that way before but...it was just very different. It was a very different date. I’m trying to be very coy about it. I’m playing it cool.”
