A wildfire in Verin, Spain, that authorities said was intentionally set caused significant damage to vehicles on Wednesday, August 3.
The Rural Environment Ministry said on Thursday that there was no longer a threat to people or property as the fire grew to 600 hectares (about 2.3 square miles), up from 100 hectares the day before. A team of 18 firefighters and two helicopters battled the fire through the night, officials said.
The firefighter who posted this footage said that his crew “did everything possible” to control the blaze.
Forestry officials in Galicia tweeted that the fire started simultaneously at three different sites, pointing to “clear intentionality” to cause damage to people and property. Credit: Brif de Laza via Storyful
