With her wedding now behind her, Vanessa Hudgens is sharing a piece of advice for future brides.

"[My advice to others is] don’t do first looks, because seeing each other at the altar for the first time is the most emotional moment of my life,” the High School Musical alum, 34 told Vogue.

Hudgens – who tied the knot with minor league baseball player Cole Tucker, 27, in Tulum, Mexico on Dec. 2 – revealed she struggled to keep her emotions in check as she walked down the aisle on her wedding day.

“I literally keeled over when I saw Cole and had to take a big breath and had to force myself to keep walking because I could have dropped to the floor," she said.

Hudgens continued, “I would also say to everyone: Write your own vows and read them. It is the most beautiful thing ever in a relationship to be that open and vulnerable and raw in front of all of the people you love proclaiming your love. It’s just beautiful. I loved it.”

After the ceremony – which was officiated by Jay Shetty – Hudgens said she looked in the mirror and realized she'd cried most of her makeup off. She told the outlet that her makeup artist had to touch up her face before she headed off to take more wedding photos.

Hudgens and Tucker's love story began on a meditation Zoom hosted by Shetty in October 2020. Three years later, in February 2023, they got engaged in Paris in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Tucker proposed with an oval-shaped diamond on a thin gold band.

"It’s the most romantic city in the world,” Hudgens said. “[But,] I was very surprised. I dropped a hint that that would be the ideal place, but kind of forgot about it because I didn’t want to have any expectations on the trip. I just wanted to enjoy it for what it was, and he caught me completely off guard.”

After getting engaged, the couple decided on a wedding date, Dec. 2. Hudgens said the planning process was overwhelming. In the end, the couple kept their wedding private and even took away people's phones.

"It was amazing because at the dinner, I would look around and everyone was talking to each other—our family and friend groups coming together and creating real relationships that I know they’re going to invest real time into," she said.

She added: "Seeing that and bringing everyone together and celebrating us, it was just so magical. Literally talking about it right now, I’m getting teary-eyed. I couldn’t have dreamt it to be any better. I knew it was going to be magical, but it exceeded my expectations.”
