KUALA LUMPUR, April 8 — Meeting the royal rulers of a country is not an ordinary activity that a tourist gets to tick off their must-do list.

Yet, in a recent video, American travel YouTubers Kyle and Maddie got the chance to meet and talk to Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah at Cameron Highlands.

The couple bumped into Their Majesties' convoy as they returned from a wedding, according to Maddie.

The video features the couple visiting Kea Farm, Butterfly Farm and a local market before they happened to run into the King and Queen during lunch.

The couple were in a restaurant when locals informed them that Their Majesties were coming, so they decided to join the spontaneous meet-up.

Maddie was able to record herself joining the small crowd that gathered in the street as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong rolled down his car window to greet the people.

“I have never fan-girl harder over someone I had never met or heard of in my life. But here we are,” the YouTuber said.

His Majesty then noticed Maddie and asked where she was from, to which she responded by saying she was from the United States.

He then asked her how long she planned to stay in Malaysia, to which Maddie answered two weeks.

However, she revealed in voiceover that she lied about the length of the trip out of nervousness.

“That’s a nice camera,” he added as he pointed to Maddie’s equipment.

“Alright, have a nice holiday,” His Majesty wished as his escort drove away.

At the end of the video, Maddie said her encounter with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri was an honour and a completely unexpected encounter.

Online commenters congratulated Maddie for meeting His Majesty and complimented him for his humility for meeting with the people whenever he gets the chance.
