KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 6 (Bernama) -- Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohammad Shatar Sabran has been appointed as the Consortium of Asia-Pacific Education Universities (CAPEU) president for 2020-2022 term.
UPSI Corporate Communication Division said in its statement that the appointment was announced during the CAPEU’s fourth annual general meeting at Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha in Bali, Indonesia on Feb 4 and 5.
Mohammad Shatar was quoted as saying in the statement that the appointment was a recognition to UPSI as a leader in education, whether domestically or in the Asia-Pacific region.
The appointment was made following a voting process by CAPEU members, he said.
CAPEU was established in 2013 to promote the education sector in the Asia-Pacific region via activities such as staff and students exchange programmes, students mobilisation, conferences and research collaborations as well as community services projects.
“I want to make CAPEU one of the most influential organisations in championing the education sector,” he said.
