Upcoming ‘dangdut’ concert in KL postponed, organiser claims suffered losses after alleged scam
KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 — 'Dangdut' concert Konsert Goyang Asia-Koplo Milenia is postponed and will have a change in venue.
The show's organiser, Projek Mission Sight Sdn Bhd, led by local actor Riezman Khuzaimi claimed to have lost over RM300,000 after being scammed by their consultant, Berita Harian reported.
The concert which was supposed to take place this August 12 at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club will now be postponed to September 30 and will change its venue to Melawati Stadium, Shah Alam.
Riezman said that this is his first time organising a concert and there is still a lot of that he needs to learn.
“I assigned a consultant to help with the concert and was taken aback to find out we’ve been scammed.
“I suffered losses after the consultant that we hired didn’t do their job such as paying for the venue, sound systems, licence applications and more.
“Because of all this, we have to change the date and venue. Other locations are fully booked except for the Melawati Stadium which has an opening on September 30. This is after an organiser has pulled out from that date,” he said.
Riezman also had to change one of their main acts for the concert which was initially supposed to be local singer Baby Shima to singer Amelina due to clash of dates.
Riezman told Harian Metro, that they suspected something fishy since when the consultant refused to meet up with them and returned RM200,000 paid to them after the first press conference for the concert on May 22.
“When I went to The Central Agency for Application for Filming and Performance by Foreign Artistes (Puspal) office, our concert was not even in their records.
“So we had to reshuffle everything and have spent over RM800,000 in total,” he said.
He added that he filed a police report on June 14 at the Brickfields police station and the case is currently under investigation.
Although the incident has impacted him and others, Riezman said it had also helped in giving him insights on how to run a concert in the future.
Amongst the lineups for the upcoming Konsert Goyang Asia-Koplo Milenia will include Malaysian and Indonesian dangdut singers such as Ani Mayuni, Siti Badriah, Hesty Klepek Klepek, Fitri Carlina, and Rheyna Morena.
