'I am running and I'm going to win again,' US President Biden says ahead of high-stakes interview

Ahead of a high-stakes interview with ABC News on Friday, US President Joe Biden reassured a campaign rally in Wisconsin that he was running and "going to win again”. The comments came after Biden’s presidential bid was called into question – even by some Democrats – after a surprisingly poor performance in last week’s debate with Donald Trump.

President Joe Biden, scrambling to defuse a political crisis over his shaky debate performance, will participate in a television interview on Friday that will be closely watched for signs of whether his mental sharpness failing.

Ahead of the interview he attended a rally in Madison, Wisconsin, where he confronted speculation that he would drop out of the race head-on:

“You’ve probably heard: we had a little debate last week. I can’t say it was my best performance. But ever since then there have been a lot of speculation. What’s Joe going to do?” he said, and then answered to loud cheers:

“I am running, and I'm going to win again!”

Later on Friday, Biden is set to be interviewed by ABC News, part of a flurry of events over the next week aimed at showing Americans he still has the stamina to run against Republican candidate Donald Trump in the Nov. 5 election.

“You got me, man,” Biden responded. “I’m not going anywhere.”
