Channel 4's The Undateables is usually a light-hearted and uplifting weeknight watch, but yesterday's (April 9) episode somewhat disappointed viewers after it was mysteriously cut short.

The dating series, which usually airs on Wednesday night, began as usual, with the episode following fine art student Michael and showgirl Zena on their quests to find love.

But after just 30 minutes, The Undateables seemingly disappeared from Channel 4's schedule before First Dates picked up where it abruptly left off. On the channel's on-demand service, the episode runs at just 23 minutes, as opposed to its usual 47.

With no explanation offered, some viewers on Twitter speculated whether someone had potentially been cut from the episode, while others expressed their disappointment. (With caps lock and everything.)

"CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY THE UNDATEABLES WAS ONLY ON FOR HALF AN HOUR?" one fan shouted, while another expressed their confusion.

"Huh? I'm confused. I'm sure I was watching #TheUndateables", they wrote. One viewer agreed: "That's it?! I thought it was on for an hour?"

Digital Spy has reached out to Channel 4 in a bid to get to the bottom of this Undateables mystery.

In last week's full-length Undateables, viewers were left with a different concern entirely after young hopeful Sam was given the wrong drink order.

Red wine with diet coke? That's blasphemy, surely.

The Undateables airs on Channel 4.
